Personal Profile

Extensive training in furniture design and craftsmanship has included time at the John Lloyd Workshop in Sussex, the Barnsley Workshop in Hampshire and with Williams and Cleal in Somerset, all internationally recognised for best teaching practice and world-class furniture. Against this background, my work is both inspired and influenced by the Arts and Crafts principles of simple forms, truth to materials and the use of nature to guide scale and style.

My fully equipped workshop in rural Hampshire is conducive to creative design and to achieving outstanding results. It is a delight to unlock the natural beauty of wood, harmonising form and function to give practical solutions that are a joy to live with. It is also a delight to exceed the expectations of my discerning customers and this is something I strive to achieve every step of the way.

As a Chartered Environmentalist, I am keen to minimise any harmful impacts arising from my work. All native hardwoods used are from managed estates and approved for felling by the Forestry Commission; all imported timbers are verified by the Forestry Stewardship Council as being from a suitable source. I am a member of the Southern Fellowship of Woodworkers, and regularly participate in trade fairs and exhibitions.
